: I need to apply to a school before the fall semester begins. In the long run, will my going through a two year "tech" culinary program (as opposed to a four year program) have that much of an effect on my career as a chef? Also, would it benefit me to take this two year program and then transfer into one of the fancier "specialty schools," say like one of the ones in NY?

For any type of management position a 4 year, BA of BS degree is becoming the minimum requirement.

If you choose to do a 2 year AOS type program first BE SURE TO CHECK IF THE CREDITS ARE TRANSFERABLE!

I'm a CIA graduate and was shocked to learn that the 64 credits I had earned (gpa 3.77) were NOT RECOGNIZED by other accredited 4 year schools! ( you can barter a small amount of them as life experience credits)

Good Luck

George
