I have loved to bake for as long as I can remember and have been toying with the idea of attending a culinary school or community college with a program for bread making. My ultimate goal is to open a smallish bakery shop.
I'm currently in San Diego and would prefer to attend a school on the west coast. Cost is one of the deciding factors. I have surfed the web and located several schools on the west coast in N. California, Seattle (community colleges) and Vancouver, B.C. The Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts in Vancouver has caught my attention w/their three-month Bread Making & Pastry Arts program. The class ratio is nine students to one Chef Instructor and the cost is $5,250 (Cdn) about $3,500 American.
Anyone with some suggestions as to a good way to approach this? My desire is to do something I enjoy. Money making potential is not really a priority. Thanks! :)
